Stress Relieve Through Music- music has a unique ability to change one's mood relatively quickly. Music can quickly diminish one's negative thoughts and feelings Music offers a cheap, fun way to fight stress. 1. It is always good to start the day off right with a good, upbeat song such as narwhals. Listen as this up beat catchy tune makes you think of sunshine, rainbows, and clouds. You will feel like P. Diddy when you wake up even though you slept about 4 hours. 2.Now after you have had your morning coffee or whatever try listening to 10 hours of Nyan the cat. This fast tempo cat song will keep a solid smile on your face when you start your 7:30 class. You will be ready to actually show up to class or happily greet your great lab partners. 3.Next right around 2 when you get your 4th cup of coffee because you didn't sleep much and your lab partner lost all the information on your project, you then find out your boy/girl friend breaks up with you because you liked someone else's photo on Instagram or Facebook. While simultaneously your mom texts you saying that your dog died. Listening to "Dragula" by Rob Zombie will immediately put in a swell mood. You will feel stress or any other negative emotion being lifted from your body! 4.Later on that day, after dinner you discover you failed a very important math test that is crucial to your overall grade. Also you still have several assignments you have to complete, while all your friends go out together to do something fun."Say Something (I am giving up on you) will ease you into a calm, tranquil night. The slow, sweet lyrics will help you to sleep while you think of how happy you are! Stress Relief Through Relaxation-As previously stated stress is necessary for life, but when stress becomes overwhelming on the body we need ways to change that, reverse the tension it causes. Most would say that they like to relax everyone once in a while. For the people who want to relax I have put together several techniques in order to accomplish that. 1. Practice controlling your breathing- Breathe in for 5 seconds and then out for 5 seconds, then hold your breath for as long as you can. You may pass out, that is okay that means you are relaxed. 2. Mediation-Find a loud environment, get in a very uncomfortable position, focus on everything that is bothering you at once, and last worry about every distracting thought racing through your mind. Do this for around 5 minutes and give up if it isn't working. 3. Tai Chi-If you want to look stupid while you get rid of stress, Tai Chi is for you. While you perform this ancient art form from where ever it comes from, take fast shallow breaths and move as quickly as possible in an uncontrolled direction. If you fall and get hurt don't worry about it keep going! You will begin to feel stress floating away from the body.
